The introduction and proliferation of LED light sources including street lights has had a dramatic effect on my health and life style. I am 47 years old now, I have notbeen able to work since 2015 and cannot go anywhere that has LED lighting without suffering pain and neurological disturbance including chronic migraine and being unable to sleep afterexposure. I have had to sell the family home and now live a much restricted lifestyle as a virtually housebound person. Since the streetlight were changed to LED I have to keep mycurtain and blinds closed from well before it goes dark and cannot even answer the door to avoid the harmful rays from the LED streetlights. The local council where aware of the healthissue experienced by some and did kindly change the lights from 4000k LED to 3000k LED which was a slight improvement but until either LED lights are made safe and healthy orbanned completely I will struggle to function. Please note the industry’s response to the widespread dissatisfaction with the quality of LED light has been to reduce the colourtemperature, this is done by applying prosperous to the LED chip. Although reducing the colour temperature of LED sources (generally to less than 2700k) often helps reduce the visualdiscomfort/pain experience by people at the time of exposure, it does not however, in my experience reduce the neurological effects that can last for days after exposure. As a suffer thisis clear evidence that LED are fundamentally different and are causing heath issues and possibly effecting all of us in a way that previous artificial light sources did not. Asbestos, thalidomide, diesel, global warming, smoking; history is littered with examples when we chose to ignore the clues because they were inconvenient, we are supposed to apply the‘precautionary principal’ to new technologies, those in power need to act now to minimise the effect of this LED big mistake! I have done extensive research over the years since reactingbadly to LED lights and the evidence is there that they are fundamentally unsuitable for use in general lighting and screens. Those of us acutely effected are the tip of the iceberg, thecanaries in the mine and should trigger concern in everyone. I strongly believe they are having a detrimental effect on the majority of people, light particularly the light from LEDs is astimulant and its not surprising that we see so much violence and overreactions in society. Artificial Light meets all the requirements to be classified as a drug yet it has not of thecontrols we would expect. I urge the committee to place a moratorium on LED streetlight and all LED light sources and order research into why so many previously healthy people havebeen made light disabled since the introduction of LED lights. It is negligent to continue to install and use LED light until we understand why they are harming people and if possible regulate then to a safe level, There is growing evidence that due to there intrinsically different nature bright LED light will never be compatible human biology and the wider environment. There introduction and promotion of LED technology has resulted in more energy usage overall, more light pollution and more heath problems than any previous lighting technology, it really looks like another misspelling scandal with out heath being the price we pay.
