HomeMy WebLinkAbout20190912notice_of_technical_hearing_order_no_34433.pdfOffice of the Secretary Service Date September 12,2019 BEFORE THE IDAHO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION )CASE NO.AVU-E-19-04 OF AVISTA CORPORATION FOR THE )AUTHORITY TO INCREASE ITS RATES )NOTICE OF SCHEDULING AND CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE ) TO ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS IN THE )NOTICE OF STATE OF IDAHO )TECHNICAL HEARING )ORDER NO.34433 On June 10,2019,Avista Corporation dba Avista Utilities ("Avista"or the "Company")applied to increase its base rates for electric service it provides to customers in Idaho.Specifically,Avista seeks to increase its electric base revenues by $5.3 million dollars (2.1%).Application at 1.The Company states the proposed rate increase also reflects the present Permanent Federal Income Tax Rate Credit under electric tariff Schedule 72 being consolidated into its base rates.Id.Avista requests that the proposed rate increase for electric service in Idaho take effect on January 1,2020. On July 1,2019,the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Intervention Deadline and suspended the proposed effective date for any changes in the Company's rates,as proposed in its tariffs,to January 1,2020,unless the Commission issues an earlier Order accepting,rejecting,or modifying Avista's Application.'See Order No.34368. The Idaho Forest Group LLC,Clearwater Paper Corporation,Idaho Conservation League, Walmart Inc.and the CommunityAction Partnership Association of Idaho intervened as parties. See Order Nos.34369,34374 and 34384. With this Order,we adopt the parties proposed schedule for this case and schedule a technical hearing for the parties to testify before the Commission.The Commission intends to schedule one or more public workshops and public hearings for Avista customers in the Company's service territory in a separate Order to be issued at a later date. 1 Avista's proposed tariffs specify a July 10,2019,effectivedate for these proposed increases.
