The science is clear that renewal forms of energy aresubstantially more economical and efficient, so why not proceed in this direction? Other neighboring states have accomplished such agreements with Avista to ensure clean, safeenergy and Idaho should follow suit. Clean, renewable energy sources are our society's main defense against the ongoing climatechange we are experiencing. To continue burning coal is not only unsafe for our health, but counterproductive toward a self-sufficient society. Renewal energy is the only direction oursociety should be heading. The rest of the world understands it, and now it is time for Idaho to realize this fact, as well. I strongly support Avista moving toward 100% renewable, clean energy for the state of Idaho. Thank you. Clean energy is important to our company as we want to see stable rates inthe future. We also want Avista, rather than the rate payers, to absorb the actual cost of doing business - which includes cleaning up Coalstrip, supporting its employees, and adjusting tonew energy sources. Climate change is no longer a debate, and ignoring this issue is financially unsustainable. We support Avista's proposed transition to clean energy and hope tosee clean energy become a reality for Idaho. Climate change is the single most important issue facing the planet and I very much supportthe transition to clean energy. There is simply no reason to continue our reliance on coal produced energy - it's dirty to burn, it requires transportation with the attendant problems, it'sextraction is problematic - in short it is the energy source of the past, not the future. I strongly encourage the Commission to pressure Avista to make the transition to cleanenergy. What happens inWashington or Montana or Canada effects us all, and what we do effects our neighbors as well. If Avista believes it is possible to transition to clean energy sources for some of itscustomers in Washington, it must be possible to transition to clean energy sources for its Idaho customers, too. The global scourge of carbon dioxide emissions must stop for the welfare of usall. Yes, we are small, but every journey is a series of small steps. Take this one on behalf of your customers.
