Avista’s 25 Year plan regarding its future use of renewable sources of energy, particularly solar and wind, areimportant to me. I am trying to reduce my carbon footprint by cutting as much as possible my use of fossil fuel generated energy. Toward that goal, in 2011 I installed rooftop solar panelson my home, and I also voluntarily pay extra on my monthly bill to support Avista’s program that purchases wind energy. I also work to steadily increase the energy efficiency of my home.My reasoning is simple: we must aggressively address global climate change now, before it is too late, and we must do that by completely switching to clean, renewable energy sources asquickly as possible. Utilities are key to doing this. Specifically, we must immediately eliminate coal as an energy source, and natural gas soon thereafter, replacing them with moresolar and wind power.
