HomeMy WebLinkAbout20180814Comment.pdfDiane Holt From:J.Gary Post <garlyn1784@frontier.com> Sent:Friday,September 14,2018 2:00 PM To:Diane Holt Subject:Sale of Avista Importance:High To Whom It May Concern: The more I learn about the proposed sale of Avista to Canadian HydroOne,the moreadamantlyopposedIbecometothesale.There is NO benefit to the customers of AvistaintheU.S.that I can possibly discern.There is great benefit to Canada andHydroOne:they are deep into the very expensive generating systems such as solar andwind;HydroOne being primarily a "transmission company"can simply transport ourcheaphydropowertoCanada,which in effect will substantially raise our rates.The onlybeneficiariesIcanseemaybetheCEOandBoardofDirectorsofAvista...have no feartheywillcomeoutontopfinancially....but we ratepayers will be stuck with the bill.Last,HydroOne is 47%owned by the Canadian government.It can sell part or all ofthattoChinaoranyoneelseitchooses.There is no way that ownership by any foreigncountryofourlocalpowersupply,can be a benefit to we ratepayers of Avista.
