Comment:Proposed Merger With Hydro-One:
I beleive the proposed merger between Avista Corp and Hydro-One is a real bad idea.Mostly because those of us who
live in the states of Idaho/Wash.involved with this merger,will suffer the most.Not only because a foreign company will
now be calling the shots,but also when relations between the two countries,Canada &the USA,fail,we will be held
hostage.
History will surely repeat itself here.For example when we decided to stop Canada from shipping so much of their
lumber to the United States,they retaliated.
Which brings me to another point.We waited too long before having the lumber embargo placed on Canada,due to the
fact that there does not seem to be any regulatory agencies who watch it carefully enough.
Lastly,when one company buys another company out,they always make statements such as “nothing will change,
everything will stay the same”but it never does.If they say they will give us a reduction in cost of electricity/gas,this
most likely will result in higher costs to thier customers.
I respectfuly request the State of Idaho Public Utilities Commission NOT to approve this merger.
