As an Idaho resident and consumer, after suffering the fires and smoke this summer and witnessing the strength anddevastationofrecordbreakinghurricanesinTexas,Florida and Puerto Rico I can't sit by and watch my utility continue topourmillionsofmetrictonsofcarbondioxideintotheatmospherecausingfurtherglobalwarming. Avista has got to step up to the plate and earn citizen and customer support by doing the right thing and put theenhancedfinancialremunerationthatyoumaygrantthemtogooduse-transitioning now from costly coal to cleanerenergy. Colstrip is one of the largest producers of greenhouse gas in the US.This is why Puget sound energy,Portland GeneralElectricandPacificorp(our co-owners of Colstrip)are all planning early exit strategies from coal and Colstrip which willleaveus(Avista)holding the bag and future financial obligation to say nothing of the moral responsibility we bear asAvistacustomersasitbecomesthemajorownerofacoalplantresponsibleforpollutionandhugegreenhousegasproduction. Avista needs resources and support but that support should be earned by Avista doing the right thing--theirexitstrategyfromcoalneedstobeonthetable. Unique Identifier:68.84.196.86 1
