Comment:Whenever I hear about the price of coal-generated electricity, the costs are always going up.And whenever I
hear about the price of renewable energy, the costs are always going down. Why,then, does Avista plan to have us pay
for coal for the next 20 years?Utilities in Washington and Oregon are making plans to end their electric production from
Colstrip by 2035 at the latest. If Avista can no longer split the costs of Coistrip once these utilities exit,my electric rates
could go up.Why isn’t Avista also planning to get out of Colstrip so that my electric rates don’t increase?I want Avista
and the PUC to do everything they can to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.Solar and
wind technology makes this not only possible but more economical than aging coal technology.I urge the PUC to require
Avista to revise its integrated resource plan with a more detailed and explanatory account of our options to replace
power generated from Coistrip with power generated from renewables.
