HomeMy WebLinkAbout20170929Comment.PDFDiane Holt From:alexghackett@gmail.com Sent:Thursday,September 28,2017 10:40 AM To:Beverly Barker;Diane Holt;Matthew Evans Subject:Case Comment Form:Alex Hackett Name:Alex Hackett Case Number:AVU-E-17-08 Email:alexghackett@gmail.com Telephone: Address: Nampa ID,83686 Name of Utility Company:Idaho Power Comment:Whenever I hear about the price of coal-generated electricity,the costs are always going up.And whenever I hear about the price of renewable energy,the costs are always going down.Why,then,does Avista plan to have us pay for coal for the next 20 years?Utilities in Washington and Oregon are making plans to end their electric production from Colstrip by 2035 at the latest.If Avista can no longer split the costs of Coistrip once these utilities exit,my electric rates could go up.Why isn’t Avista also planning to get out of Colstrip so that my electric rates don’t increase?I want Avista and the PUC to do everything they can to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.Solar and wind technology makes this not only possible but more economical than aging coal technology.I urge the PUC to require Avista to revise its integrated resource plan with a more detailed and explanatory account of our options to replace power generated from Coistrip with power generated from renewables.
