Hayden ID,83835 Name of Utility Company:AVISTA Comment:Idaho Public Utilities Commission: I respectfully request that you deny the recent request AVISTA Utilities for a rate increase. My reasons are as follows: -Avista frequently seeks rate increases and was granted an increase effective in January of this year.An additional request after such as short time seems to show either poor foresight,or inefficient spending on the part of Avista. -Frequent and significant rate increases place an unfair, unjust and unreasonable burden on residents.Additionally,I believe that rate increases disproportionately impact certain vulnerable populations including the poor and elderly, which can be viewed as discriminatory. -If Avista seeks additional revenue, perhaps they should consider trimming the salary and compensation packages of Avista executives.According to information for Avista’s fiscal year 2015 filed with the SEC and available online (http://wwwl.salary.com/AVISTA-CORP-Executive-Salaries.html),the top 5 Avista executives earn total yearly compensation of $8,011,820.In my opinion, that is not reasonable spending of monies or allocation of company resources. With this in mind,an increase of cost to the consumer is unwarranted. -Avista rate increases far outstrip recent inflation rates (less than 1%per year US national average),or average individual earnings (an increase of 3.55%on average 2013-14). Thank you for your consideration and for your assistance in protecting the citizens of Idaho from unreasonable increases from the de-facto utility monopoly.
