My emailed comments were something like: How do companies or governments think we can keep affording these increases?Individuals,families, companies,etc.have to set a budget and live within it.I guess not for utilities though.One thing mentioned in our local paper about Avista’s rate increase request stated “people are using more energy- efficient appliances;that is why Avista needs more of our money.”Possibly,just possibly,people are culling back on usage because they can’t afford the costs.I hope that at some point,agencies take customers’comments into account when considering these rate increase requests! I have just read the Coeur d Alene Press’8-7-2015 edition which included a headline “Kootenai Health Receives $45K Grant”from AVISTA!!They’re giving $45,000 to Kootenai Health,and at the same time they’re requesting rate increases from their customers?????That’s absolutely absurd!!!!They’re asking us for rate increases,and at the same time donating money to a hospital?And they’re propping up their stock price,to benefit their shareholders,at our expense. I own two properties in Idaho that are serviced by Avista for gas service,and I certainly can’t afford all these increases when,at the same time,Avista is donating money (from our payments!!)to someone else.I don’t know how you can even consider granting their request.This is absolutely ridiculous!
