Comment:To whom it may concern:
As an economic development council supporting the employers, customers and business owners,
we also support Idaho Power’s request to shorten the length of guaranteed contracts for large
solar and wind generation projects. We believe this filing is in the best interests of
Idahoans.
Representing Idaho and Lewis Counties, the Ida-Lew Economic Development Council contributes
to the economy in communities across some of the largest geography in the state.Having
access to reliable electricity at a fair price is essential to our businesses. It’s also
essential to the financial health of our customers, who range from one person businesses,
large companies,to cities and counties.
We don’t just work here.We live here.We love and respect the environment that’s essential
to our way of life in Idaho and the Northwest. All of us want clean energy, and we are glad
to know that a majority of the electricity we use comes from the region’s clean, renewable
hydro resources.
Moving toward an even cleaner energy future can’t come at the expense of reliability and
affordability, however.Idaho Power recognizes that, and we recognize the company’s attempt
to keep power costs in line with current market rates, which will benefit economic
development and the growth of Idaho and Lewis county businesses and communities.
Please support Idaho Power’s petition to modify the terms and conditions of future PURPA
energy sales agreements (IPC-E-15-01).
Thank you,
Melisa Bryant,Economic Development Specialist and the Board of Directors of the Ida-Lew
Economic Development Council
