Comment:The proposed rate increase of 4.2%that Avista is asking for beginning Oct.1,2014
will cause hardship for citizens who get their power through Avista.As everyone knows the
economy is horrible,people are out of work,a lot of people are on fixed incomes and get
zero percent increase in the money going to them.I am lucky enough to have a job and I only
got a 1%pay increase.The city of Lewiston is proposing tax hikes,inflation has caused the
price of consumer goods to,in some cases,double and gas is nearly 4.00 a gallon.I think
that this rate increase is unreasonable and will present a great hardship.Everyone knows
how businesses work and that they need capital to maintain and fix worn out things but surely
Avista has enough of a profit margin to still do these things without adding even more to the
burden that the people of Idaho are already shouldering.Thank you for your consideration.
