Dear Chairman:
Recently I read an article in the Spokesman Review regarding Avista’s proposed meeting held in
Coeur d’Alene,ID to seek a rate increase both for gas and electric.
Each and every year for the past ten years Avista has requested and received rate increases due
to any and all excuses equipment breakdowns, poor weather conditions, refinery
shutdowns, windmills, sale of excess power and on and on.We’re not surprised by the
current request after learning they are spiffing up the area around an old plant in downtown
Spokane so there will be a park. This to celebrate their birthday!
Enough is enough! There is a glut of oil and gas in this country to last for a hundred years.
Should you grant them yet another increase would be to liken them to a monopoly on “take it
or leave it”attitude seeing that they are the only game in town.
I feel that granting them any increase at this time would only add to the inflation that we’re
fighting day and night.
Sincerely,
John K.Nodes‘s.
