Asher dated July 8, 2011 that says it all. Avista, as a stockholder company and a monopoly as well, has its consumers over a barrel. The only avenue for recourse is through your office. However, history shows whatever Avista wants they get. I compared my electric bill for June/July of 2010 against the same time period and days for 2011, comparison using the same usage. The rate increase was 8.8% over last year. I urge you to impose a denial for this rate increase and ask you to recommend that Avista get their house in order by utilizing best management practices by looking at ways to reduce costs, not increase profits for the management team and their stockholders. They owe it to the consumer. As government entities, corporations, small businesses and consumers balance their budgets, Avista could do well to follow their lead. As with cable companies, phone companies and any other company that has or had a monopoly on their services, its competition that brings cost down. Again, I refer you to the email mentioned above from Mr. Asher, he said it correctly. Thank you! The only hope the tax payers have between higher rates, and higher rates are you. The utility commission. The state is so corrupt, Big business and the money they bring to the table, goes in the pockets of our state reps, makes it a unfair playing field. Avista says it needs the new increases to fund exspansion. They should have been planning that years ago instead of all the high payrolls and money to the stock holders. The people have ask to publish how much avista people are making. As a self employed person I live on a budget. I have so much money a month to live on. If I dont have the money I do without. I wish I could ask the commission to give me more so I could pay my bills. Wi th the economy the way it is the utility commission should tell avista to live with-in their means, That what I have to do.I know to get a energy trust program started in this state will be a long shot. The power companys have deep pockets and our states reps like the money. What is good for the people of Idaho, isnt whats good for the power companys. The states utility commission is our ONLY HOPE.
