The middle class is slowly being squuzed out of existance by corporations seeing huge increases in profits and asking for customers to pay more. I am told as a state employee that I have to take a pay cut because the economy is rough and we all need to do our part so the state can live wi thin it' s means. Well maybe AVISTA needs to do this also. I am cutting back on many things I used to enjoy, have a second job and am working hard to provide for my family. I appreciate the idea of putting money into programs for the poor but those programs do little to help those of us who work one or more jobs and are above the poverty level but below the income level of those requesting the rate increase. If as a state employee I am supposed to make a financial sacrifice to help the state, AVISTA should do the same to help the rate payers. I am not alone in the pay decrease arena. My neighbor told me today he had to take a 10% pay cut. It does not seem appropriate to give a large corporation with increased revenues an increase when so many of their customers are taking pat cuts. Everyone needs to work together to get through this economic crisis, including AVISTA. Thank you The form submitted on http://ww . puc. idaho. gov Iforms/ipuc1/ipuc. html IP address is 98.157.179.84 1
