Letter to the Editor 4-24-09
Again regarding Avista's request for another rate increase, and also in response
to Gene Fadness of the Idaho PUC and his letter to the editor printed 4-16-09, i
will try to make my letter to the editor of 4-2-09 a little clearer. The electric rate
last Sept. 2008 was .0633 per KWH. In Nov. 2008, the rate rose to .0768 per
KWH, an increase of 21.3% over the Sept. rate. Dec., Jan. and Feb. rates
averaged .0802 per KWH, making for a total increase of 26.7% over the Sept.
rate. These KWH rates were taken right from our monthly Avista bils. Now to
repeat, if Avista's request for another increase is granted, customers' new rates
wil end up being 37% more than what they were in Sept. 2008. If anyone thinks
this new increase is a bit much, they can let the Idaho PUC know how they feel,
and, or, they can attend the PUC workshop scheduled for 5-12-09 at 7 PM at the
Community Hall in Sandpoint at 204 S. First Ave, and voice their concerns.

RE: Article in Lewiston Tribune n RATE INCREASE"
Let's just get right to the point: NO!!!! to any increse. I do not want to pay for any of
your business in Montana either. The reason I did not attend the meeting in Lewiston
was because I cannot go out at night until the warmer nights are here. So l decided to
make my voice heard by writing this letter.
I am on a fixed income and trying to survive the best way I can. Even with a college
education and good job this state is not the highest paying, which means our
retirements are probably some of the lowest. I have set my thermostat on 62 degrees
in the winter and wear a jacket. I have turned it off during the summer. I put in ceilng
fans and try to air condition that way, I waa forced into this last year. What do you want
from us?
l do have health problems as most elderly do. l have asthma and arthritis, etc so it
would be better for me if i could run the air conditioning during the summer and keep it
warmr during the winter, but I can't afford to do that any more;
I do realize you have a business to run, but how much money are your Administration
Personel making, would it be possible for them to skip a year or two of raises, that
probabley would give us some relief.
With the cost of fo, gasoline and utilities going up so much I guss we could
just stay home and munch on grass. We dontt need to have fun or go on a vacation
anyway.
WeH, L guess you know how I feel, but honestly folks enough is enough and the people
have had enough of these kind of raises.
Sincerely, f;~æO
