This hurts us budget wise. 1m personally making more than $1599 less a month than i did last year. My power bill is over $259 a month. My power was shut off some time ago. We have been trying to catch up for some time. I should be caught up by end of month. It will take a year to get my deposit back. The deposit was $599. If i was working for Avista and getting a $299,999 a year pay raise this would be no big deal. How can the CEO make over 2 million while people can hardly pay there bill. I dont have any other options for power. No power i cant cook, provide showers or provide heat for my children. It does not seem fair. If Avista really needs more money then salaries should be looked at. I understand bussiness have over head and cost. But i also understand that there is responsilbil tiy to being fair and running your bussiness in a ethical way. Its not fair that Avista has a monopoly. I feel they are bullies and our government lets them get a way with it. I will run Avista for $259,999 a year and Avista will not have to pay top CEO 2.2 million that is a savings of close to 2 million. Something needs to be done with Avista. Rates keep going up and up and so do their profits. I had to take a pay cut this year so that I could keep working. Every time I turn around another rate increase is approved. Profits are great, but not when you are a monopoly. You need to allow them to make money but not record profits. If they were having financial trouble the government would bail them out. The government is notorious for helping out financial irresponsible people and businesses. For once why not help out the responsible tax paying, working people of Idaho and Washington. The proposed increas is twice the percentage of the base rate as the cost of living increase of Social Security this year. I believe utility rate increases should not exceed the annual Social Security cost of living increase because when that happens there is a constant decrease in retirees i s dollars used for living. And, this winter there were i estimated bills i because the meter readers could not reach the meters. Avista needs to find more aggressive readers. Did the company furlough the readers for a few months to save money and then use the weather to estimate the customer use? My electric meter is on the front of my house under a veranda front porch. Only a reader inn a sheel chair would not be able to read it. We have replaced all the windows in our house to the tune of $9999.99 with highly efficient windows. We have insulated the walls. We have reroofed. Nobody helped me with my infrastructure inprovements and I don i t think rate increases from Avista should should finance their' s. Monte L. This economy is so fragile anyway - it will be drastically harmful to businesses and home owners alike. Thank you for considering my comment. Brenda B.
