Dear Commissioners,
Regarding Avista' s continual requests for rate hike, I read in the paper just the other day
that they are making record profits, so I wonder why they need higher rates. The purpose of
a public utility is to provide utilities to the public, not profits to their shareholders.
Naturally they have to make enough money to continue operations, but enriching out of state
and foreign st~ckholders is hardly in the public interest. Keeping rates as low as possible
is. Please make sure any rate hike approved is j usti fied. Thank you very much.

This is in regards to the rate hike Avista wants. I' m asking you to reject this rate hike.
Times are tight, and we are doing all we can do to stay afloat. We keep our heat at 70 during
the cold months, no air condit. at all, no outside lights, max. of three lights on in the house
at night. We have given up camping,mag.sub.,extra trips to town,eating out,cut back our t.V.
basic.How much more can the average person do? I feel like crying! Now Avista wants a rate
hike! We have no say in what they do. They are God,the only game in town. Avista is asking
for this after annoc. a 72% increase in profit!!! Where does this insanity stop! I hope it
stops with you. Please think of the average people this rate hike will affect. Tank you for
