Dear Commi ssi on Members:
I oppose the rate increase demands Avista has pI aced before the
Commission. I opposed past rate increase demands so that the
C0rpora te manaqemen t woul be forced to qui t thei r pvramid t vpe
method of enrichinq the monev outfi ts at the rate pavers expense.
The Commission qave Avista its increase then and now it wants more.
I also OPKlose the rate increase because I will not onlv pav more
for the qas and electricitv I use but I will also pav more for the
products and services sold bv those rate pavers who are qoinq to
pass the increase onto the backs of the consumers and taxpavers.
That means every business and unit of qovernment who is abl e to
pass such increases onto others. And those that can t more than
likely will be force to shut down.
We are al ready in a very shaky economy which . due to I ack of lobsand Ii vabl e pay, cannot stand any further worseninq. Somewhere
alonq the I ine corporate qreed must be stopped. I propose that the
Commission starts now. Tell Avista to shape UP and tiqhten its bel tI ike the rest of us have been forced to do.
IN REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED IDAHO WHO WILL WIN THIS BATTLE. WILL IT BE
THE RATE PAYERS OR WILL IT BE THE CORPORATION?

Idaho Public Utilities Commission
Subj ect :Proposed Avista Gas and Electric rate increase request
Dear Commission Members,
I received a notice (newsletter and two separate included notices) with my February
monthly billing statement from Avista informing me as a customer that Avista is
requesting an increase in gas and electric prices for residential customers from the
Idaho Public Utilities Commission.
The information provided to customers is in conflict in the one single mailing I
received. Avista s newsletter stated the request for an electric price incease of 11%and a gas price increase of 9.2%. In the same billing two smaller notices were
contradictory. The smaller two notices stated the rate increase asked for was 13.
for electric and 10% for gas.
Regardless of which rates are correct the percentage requested is outrageous. Jobs
are leaving the country, people are out of work and the rate of inflation is currently 1 %. Avista shows a total disregard for their customers asking the Commission for
such an exorbitant price increase and it is outrageous on it's face.
Avista should downsize, cut costs, cut pay to executive level personnel and replace
the CEO if they can t do what is necessary to hold the line on rate increases.
I respectfully ask the Commission to deny the request.reasonable.The rate requested is not
Regards,
James F. King
