Idaho Public Utilities Commission
Case No. ATL-E-08-02, Amended Notice of Public Workshop and Hearing
August 14, 2008
Contact: Gene Fadness (208) 334-0339, 890-2712
Atlanta Power workshop, hearing moved to school
The location of the scheduled workshop and hearing in the Atlanta Power case has been moved to the Atlanta School on 54 Main St. The original location for the Aug. 23 workshop and Oct. 7 hearing was the Pinnacle Peaks Sawtooth Lodge.
Staff from the Idaho Public Utilities Commission will be in Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. to answer questions relating to a rate increase request filed by Atlanta Power Company. The workshop will give customers an opportunity to question commission staff regarding the issues the commission must consider the case. The workshop will begin with a presentation from staff followed by questions from customers. Representatives from the company may also be present to answer questions.
Later, a public hearing will be held during which people can testify to the commissioners who decide the case. That hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 7 at 4 p.m., also at Atlanta School. At the hearing, customers will be able to testify to the commissioners who decide the case.
Atlanta Power serves about 75 residential and commercial customers in the Elmore County community. The company is asking for a 60.6 percent increase in revenues.
In June, the commission approved a 33.6 percent surcharge to pay for expenses related to the failure of the company’s hydroelectric turbine last March. The surcharge portion of the rate case will be revisited during this consideration of the company’s proposed overall general rate increase.
