Please describe your question or comment briefly:
As a part-time resident of Atlanta since July 1996, and a full-time resident since June
of 2006, I have paid what I consider to be expensive rates for the electricity produced by
Atlanta Power Co. After having done some research, I have found that by order of the PUC,#24925, our present rates were established late in 1988. At that time, part-time
residents paid an additional $10 per month and full-time residents paid an additional $31
per month to help meet the expenses of the Power Company. Those were significant rate
increases of near 50-60% over the previous rates. As customers, many of us understood that
these additional funds would be used to meet present and future repair and maintenance
needs of the company. It appears that Atlanta Power Co. is now unable to pay for the
necessary repairs to the turbine.
I am requesting that the PUC require Atlant Power Co. to submit an audit of their books
for the past several years to determine how the income to the company has been spent. TheCompany should be required to demonstrate to the PUC and to the Atlanta Community that it
has invested its previous income wisely prior to being allowed to establish a deferred
expense account to meet the present emergency repairs to the turbine.
Thank you for keeping our best interests in mind in determining the appropriate response
to these circumstances.

MY WIFE AND I ARE FULL TIME RETIRED RESIDENTS IN ATLANTA AND LIVE ON OUR RETIRMENT
BENIFITS. THE OWNER (ISREAL RAY) OF ATLANTA POWER HAS MADE IT KNOWN THE HE CANNOT AFFORD
THE REPAIR COST OF THE TURBINE AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE CUSTOMERS OF ATLANTA POWER PAY
THE BILL FOR THE FIX ON THE TURBINE. WITH THE AMOUNT OF CUSTOMERS THAT ARE USING ATLANTA
POWER IT GENERATES ABOUT $7000.00 EACH MONTH. OF THIS AMOUNT HE HAS A BOOK KEEPER AND A
LOCAL PART TIME TECHNICION AND ONE OTHER HELPER, THEY ARE PAID UNDER $1000.00 EACH MONTH.
THE COST OF THE TWO PART TIME EMPLOYEES AND THE BOOKKEEPER IS UNDER $2000.00 WHICH LEAVES
A BALANCE OF APPROXAMATLY $5000.00 +. THIS FIGURES OUT TO MORE THAN $60,000.00 FOR THE
YEAR. ?????
I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THE PUC CONDUCT A THREE TO FIVE YEAR AUDIT TO SEE IF ANY INCREASES
IN OUR POWER RATES ARE JUSTIFIED.
