Secretary:We understand from Senator Kennedy that P .C. is considering setting up a "workshop" in Atlanta during themonth of June.Please explain your definition and purpose of a "workshop " (if it is to occur), as well as the protocol for hearing theconcerns of the townspeople here. Also , please explain the relationship of the workshop to our request for a
formal hearing and when we can expect a formal hearing.
Secondly, regarding the timing in June , please coordinate the scheduled event with Senator Kennedy, who , as
you know , would like to attend. It is also important to ensure that people here (if an event is to occur) have
adequate notice to be able to attend. We know from checking with local citizens that the worst possible
time would be before June 12 because of peoples ' summer travel schedules. We assume you will want to know
this and will not schedule anything in Atlanta during that period of time.
It was puzzling to read in the P.C.'s response to Senator Kennedy that your delay in responding to our petition
and other concerns was related to "difficulties reaching the people in Atlanta.We have been waiting for years for
a response from the P.U. C. and are very easy to reach by telephone. We are also available by mail. (I n fact
your records will indicate that we frequently call and write P ., asking for help.In other words , we do not
understand how we could have been considered "difficult to contact" over the years.
Will you please explain in what way the people here were difficult to reach?
