AWS-W-23-01. On March 7, 2023, Algoma Water System dba Algoma Water (“Algoma” or “Company”) applied to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (“Commission”) to change rates for its residential and commercial customers.1 The Company proposes to increase rates for residential customers to $54.00 and increase rates for commercial customers to $89.00. The Company’s Application includes its rate calculation and several exhibits. The Company did not request an effective date in its initial filing. On April 7, 2023, the Company requested a June 1, 2023, effective date. Staff recommended the Commission suspend the Company’s proposed effective date for 30 days and five months, consistent with Idaho Code § 61-622(4). On April 18, 2023, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Intervention Deadline, establishing a 21-day deadline for interested persons to intervene. Order No. 35766. No one intervened. On May 2, 2023, the Commission issued a Notice of Suspension of Proposed Effective Date. Order No. 35766. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Commission issue a Notice of Modified Procedure establishing an October 18, 2023, public comment deadline and a November 1, 2023, Company reply deadline. 1 The Company’s Application was not entered into the Commission’s case management system until April 6, 2023.
