SUBJECT: IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN
POWER FOR APPROVAL OF A CAPACITY DEFICIENCY PERIOD TO
BE USED FOR AVOIDED COST CALCUATIONS; CASE NO. PAC-E-22-
14.
On October 4, 2022, PacifiCorp dba Rocky Mountain Power (“Company”) applied to the
Commission for an order approving “of the capacity deficiency period determination to be used in
avoided cost calculations using the Surrogate Avoided Resource (“SAR”) methodology.”

In addition to allowing the case to be processed by modified procedure, Order No. 35588
set public comment and reply comment deadlines for December 20, 2022, and January 3, 2023,
respectively. Commission Staff (“Staff”) sent an initial production request to the Company on
October 25, 2022. On November 15, 2022, the Company supplied responses. Staff filed its latest
Production Request on December 7, 2022. In this request, Staff asked the Company for an
expedited response to answers that Staff deemed incomplete. On December 12, 2022, the
Company provided a partial response and requested additional time to respond to the remaining
questions.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Commission extend the public comment deadline to January 6,
2023, and the Company’s reply comment deadline to January 20, 2023.
COMMISSION DECISION
Does the Commission wish to extend the public comment deadline to January 6, 2023,
and the Company’s reply comment deadline to January 20, 2023?
