RE:NAME CHANGE ON CERTIFICATE NO. 383 TO REFLECT THE
ACQUISITION OF VERIZON NORTHWEST ("VERIZON") BY
FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS NORTHWEST INc. ("FRONTIER"
CASE NO. VZN- T -00-01.
BACKGROUND
On December 8, 2010, the Commission received a request to amend Verizon s Certificate
of Public Convenience and Necessity. More specifically, Frontier has requested that the name on
Certificate No. 383 be changed fromVerizon Northwest Inc. to Frontier Communications
Northwest, Inc. Case No. VZN-OO-Ol.
DISCUSSION
On July 1 , 2010, Frontier assumed control of the Verizon properties in Idaho. The Idaho
Secretary of State acknowledged the transaction on July 8 , 2010. See File No. C139394. Staff
has reviewed the request and has determined that no rates, terms or conditions have been
changed. This action will simply amend the nalne on the Certificate to reflect the recent
acquisition by Frontier.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends apprqval.
