RE:RURAL TELEPHONE COMPANY ADVICE LETTER 06-01 TO BETTER
DEFINE THE CRITERIA IN DETERMINING RESIDENTIAL VERSUS
BUSINESS SERVICE.
BACKGROUND
On October 2 2006, the Commission issued Order No. 30140 ordering Rural Telephone
Co. (Rural) to revise its tariff to be consistent with the Commission s Telephone Customer
Relations Rules regarding the classification of residential and business service. See Order No.
30140 at 4.
On December 6 2006, Rural filed Advice No. 06-01 with the Commission in compliance
with Order No. 30140. With this filing, the tariff sheets are revised to correct the discrepancy
between the business use standards in the Company s tariff and the Commission s Telephone
Customer Relations Rules, IDAP A 31.41.01 et seq. The changes also better define the criteria in
determining a residential service versus a business service. The Company requests an effective
date of January 5 , 2007.
STAFF ANALYSIS
Staff has reviewed the filing and believes the changes in the tariff meet the requirements
of the Telephone Customer Relations Rules and complies with Order No. 30140. Staff
therefore, recommends approval of this filing.
