'LOCAL TARIFF, CLARIFYING TARIFF LANGUAGE REGARDING CALLING SERVICE *69 FUNCTIONALITY PAY-PER-USE BILLING AND SERVICE LIMITATIONS; REQUESTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 29, 2005. BACKGROUND On February 24, 2005, Verizon filed Tariff Advice No. 05-01 requesting Commission authority to make changes to its Local Tariff, I.P.C. No.8 for the purpose of clarifying the tariff language regarding calling service *69 functionality, pay-per-use billing and service limitations. DISCUSSION Calling Service *69 Allows a customer to obtain information about the last incoming call when the service is activated by dialing *69. Upon dialing *69, the telephone number associated with the last incoming call is announced if it is available from the network and the calling party has not blocked the calling information. This feature is offered on a monthly subscription or pay-per-use basis. Pay-Per-Use Billing Pay-per-use customers are charged upon announcement of the telephone number associated with the last incoming call. The charge applies regardless of whether the announced telephone number identifies the calling party or the call is, or can be, returned automatically or by manual dial back. DECISION MEMORANDUM - 1 -MARCH 7, 2005 Service Limitations This tariff clarification indicates that the *69 Custom Local Area Signaling Service (CLASS) features are applicable to calls placed to/from compatible central offices or within a compatible central office offering the service. This service is offered based on information stored within the switch or provided to the switch through a call setup signaling and subject to limitations associated with the availability, and content of that information. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staffhas reviewed this filing and finds it to be a housekeeping measure that is revenue neutral. Because this is a discretionary service with no revenue impact, Staff recommends approval.
