RE:WITHDRAWAL OF GST TELECOM IDAHO, INC. CERTIFICATE OF
PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY NO. 322
Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity No. 322 was issued to GST Idaho
Lightwave, Inc. on February 10, 1997. The Company later changed its name to GST Telecom
Idaho, Inc. On November 16 2000, the Commission issued Order No. 28564 to grant Certificate
No. 377 to Time Warner Telecom ofIdaho LLC, that planned to purchase GST through a
bankruptcy auction. GST ceased to serve Idaho customers on or about December 2000, but
wished to hold its Certificate until it was certain it would no longer need it.
On May 28 2003, GST sent an email stating that "GST Telecom, Inc. and its subsidiaries
no longer serve customers, and will not do so in the future, as we are in the final stages of
liquidation." GST requested that we consider all of its tariffs and price lists inactive.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Based on this request, Staff recommends that the Commission cancel GST's Certificate
No. 322. Does the Commission agree?
