GNR-02-18, APPROVAL OF APPLICATION FOR CPCN BY BRIDGEBAND COMMUNI CA TI 0 NS, IN C. On September 20, 2002, Bridgeband Communications, Inc. filed an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide basic local exchange service in Idaho. Bridgeband is a competitive communications company offering data communications and internet access using DSL technology to provide high speed ADSL and SDSL service. Bridgeband intends to provide commercial grade residential and commercial voice, data, video and television services. The Company requests approval to provide service in the areas of the state currently served by Teton Telecom, Qwest Corporation and Verizon Northwest, Inc., and plans to initially offer services to a subdivision near Driggs, Idaho. On November 8 , 2002, the Commission issued a Notice of Application and Notice of Modified Procedure, establishing a period for written comments. Written comments were filed only by the Commission Staff. Staff reviewed the application and the information provided by Bridgeband, including the illustrative tariffs for its proposed services. Staff recommends the Commission approve the application of Bridgeband Communications, Inc. for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.
