CASE UWI-W-II-02 SECOND PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF Preparer: Jarila Car Sponsoring Witness: Greg Wyatt REQUEST NO. 31: Please provide an update on the United Water Cares program, including fuding to date by Company, customer contributions, total dollar amount awarded to customers, total number of customers assisted, and total amount provided to CAP AI for administration. Please provide fuher explanation of the UW Cares program details including any changes to the program since initiated and when the change was initiated. Please provide the corresponding analysis in electronic executable format on a monthly basis for calendar years 2009, 2010 and 2011 to date. RESPONSE NO. 31: The attached Excel fie titled "#3 I UW Cares Sumar 2009-11.xlsx" contains the general ledger amounts by month for Company fuding, customer contributions, total dollar amount awarded to customers, total number of customers assisted, and total amount provided to CAP AI for administration for the years 2009,2010, and 201 I though September. The only changes to the UW Cares program since its inception in 2005 is the increase in the annual assistace a qualified customer can receive went from $50 to $65, and the removal of the matching "cap" which was initially set at $20,000 anually. These changes took effect on October 1,2011. UNITED WATER IDAHO INC. Retu Check Charge 2. Reconnection Charge for Nonpayment Terminations 3. Field Collection Trip Charge 4. Service Connection Charge for Other than Normal Business Hours 5. Temporar Disconnection at Customer Request Charge 6. Meter Test at Customer Request Charge 7. Meter Rental Charge for Constrction Please provide your answer in a format similar to the following: Date Fee or amount charged Number of checks, charges, rentas, etc. Total Revenue RESPONSE NO. 42: The enclosed Excel fie titled "#42 Sch 5 Misc Charges Test Year.xlsx" contains the test year Schedule 5 miscellaneous charges as requested totaling $64,745 from accounts 40200 & 40205. The test year GL for accounts 40200 & 40205 is $161,304. It included fire hydrant meter rental & consumption fees of $96,243 that are coded to the same accounts but are not par of the Schedule 5 tariff, and a miscode of $316 of write-off fees that were transferred to account 90400 after the test year. How and when is this material provided to customers? RESPONSE NO. 43: Conservation Bil Insert: The summer conservation bil insert is included in every customer's paper bil, and it is electronically included with all e-bils. The sumer conservation insert ran in customer bils from May 5-July 5, 2011. (See enclosed file titled "#43 Summer Cons Bil Insert.pdf') Annual Conservation Guide: The Guide is issued durng mid-June every year. The 2011 edition came out Sunday, June 19. Approximately 46,500 copies were distributed in the Sunday edition of the Idaho Statesman, targeted to home delivery and newsstad editions withn United Water Idaho's service area. It is also available for pick-up at the United Water Idaho Victory Road office, Boise WaterShed Education Center, Boise City Hall, the Foothils Learing Center and the Ada County Extension Offce. It is also distributed at community events United Water Idaho participates in, including "green" fairs, neighborhood association meetings and other presentations. (See enclosed fie titled "#43 Conservation Guide 201 L.pdf') Green Expo Ad: The ad is used in printed materials created by the Idaho Green Expo. The ad is par of the name recognition package when sponsoring the Expo. The past few years the Expo occurred in May. (See enclosed fie titled "#43 Green Expo Ad.pdf') Idaho Rivers United Ads: The ads are a result of a parnership with Idaho Rivers United. The ads ru in the Idaho Statesman during August. (See enclosed fie titled "#43 IRU 6 Sumer Ads.pdf') ß , UNITED WATER IDAHO INC. CASE UWI-W-II-02 SECOND PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF PreparerlSponsoring Witness: Greg Wyatt REQUEST NO. 45: Please describe in detail any planed brochures, kits, devices or other physical items curently planed for but not yet distributed to customers. Please include within your response the timing of distribution(s), draft brochures, kits, devices or other physical items underway, the status of the items, and the expected result from said distributions. RESPONSE NO. 45: Annual Conservation Guide: Planed for June 2012. There is no draft at this time. The Guide also includes the coupons for free water saving devices as in past Guides. United Water expects customers to use the Guide to lear and be reminded to use water more wisely both inside and outside the home, thus saving water and money. Summer Bil Insert: Planed for spring 2012. There is no draft at this time. Expected result is for customers to use water more wisely both inside and outside the home, thus saving water and money. Rain Sensor, Hose Timer and Hose Nozzle Give-away Program: Planed for Sumer 2012 in conjunction with Anual Conservation Guide. Expected result is for customers to use water more wisely outside the home, thus saving water and money. Commercial Kitchen Spray Retrofit Program: Continue promotion and change-out of high- efficiency commercial kitchen pre-rinse spray fixtures though communications with food industry and other organizations with registered commercial kitchens. Expected result is for customers to use less water in their commercial kitchen pre-rinse stations, thus saving water and money. " , Idaho Green Expo Booth: Planed for June 2012. The Company anticipates paricipating in the Idaho Green Expo as a sponsor, with printed information in the event's program and a booth presence. Anticipate some sort of consumer conservation give-away, but that has not been selected at this time. Expected result is for customers to use water more wisely both inside and outside the home, thus saving water and money. UNITED WATER IDAHO INC. CASE UWI-W-II-02 SECOND PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF Preparer/Sponsoring Witness: Jeremiah Healy REQUEST NO. 46: Regarding the conservation guide produced by the Company and distributed as a supplement to the Idaho Statesman and at events throughout the year, please provide a breakdown of costs to produce, print and distribute the guide for calendar years 2009, 2010 and 2011 to date. RESPONSE NO. 46: Below are the costs for production, printing and distribution of the Company's anual Conservation Guide for the calendar years of2009, 2010, and 2011. The majority of production costs were not incurred directly by United Water Idaho in 2011 for the Guide as design and production were performed at the corporate level for use by other sister companies as well.
