HomeMy WebLinkAbout20221103Gem State to Staff 54-62_Attachment 56-2_Field Manager Description.pdfNWN Water of Idaho Gem State Water Company LLC JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: FIELD MANAGER STATUS: EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: WATER REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER DIVISION: UTILITIES SUPERVISES: N/A JOB SUMMARY: Works independently managing daily field operations as the direct contact for field employees under supervision of the General Manager while performing a variety of skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, operation and maintenance of a water and wastewater facility, while continuing to gain the education and skills needed to retain the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licensing Certification. QUALIFICATIONS (*Denotes State and/or Federal Law) - *High school education or equivalent. - 2 years of field supervision experience. - *Must have a Class I Certification in one of the water/wastewater fields, i.e. Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collections, or Wastewater Treatment. - Valid Idaho drivers’ license. - Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds. - Must be able to physically accommodate and use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatuses - Must be physically able to access and egress trenches, manholes and lift stations as well as water reservoirs and towers. - *Must have a Class I Certification in one of the water/wastewater fields, i.e. Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collections, or Wastewater Treatment. - *Achieve required hours of accredited training pertaining to the water/wastewater field. - Must be able to accommodate a weekend or variable shift and/or be on 24-hour emergency call when assigned. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Denotes State and/or Federal Law) 1. Monitor day to day maintenance, operations, structure, and function of water/wastewater systems. 2. Create schedule and task orders for field employees. 3. Track budget items and stock. 4. Assist with capital, long and short-range planning and projects 5. Compile records and reports in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations. 6. Analyze and conduct mathematical calculations following laboratory procedures to make adjustments in the operation of a water/wastewater facility. 7. Provide effective communication with management and/or other operators on the technical level required of this position. 8. Conform to all safety policies and participate in specialized training for the safe handling of hazardous materials and confined space entry. 9. Perform all aspects of the daily operation and testing of a water and or wastewater treatment facility. 10. Assist in all aspects of utility construction including, but not limited to, excavation, shoring, laying and testing of water and wastewater lines. 11. Efficiently operate all types of equipment used in a water/wastewater field including but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, forklifts, loaders, sewer flushing truck, mini excavator, vac trailer and tractors. 12. Participate in the design and planning of new and existing water and wastewater projects. 13. *Compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater facility. 14. Performs repair and maintenance on all water and wastewater apparatus, including structures and grounds. 15. Comply with all NWN Water policies, procedures and safety regulations and culture. 16. Comply with NWN Water grooming and uniform policy. 17. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. WORKING CONDITIONS The working environment will vary from extreme outdoor conditions to indoor job duties. Safety procedures must always be followed, as worker will continually be exposed to hazardous materials, confined space, electrical components, and heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, sewer flushing and transporting vehicles. Worker must be in a physical condition that will allow him or her access into sewer manholes and any number of holding tanks and basins in a water/wastewater plant.
