Falls Water Company Application for Approval of Three Capital Projects
Data Request Response
Request No.: FLS-W-21-01 IPUC DR 5
REQUEST NO. 5: Could size/capacity for proposed Well #11 be increased from 1,500
GPM to 3,000 GPM to satisfy DEQ requirements? Please explain why or why
not. Application at 4.
Response:
The capacity of the well is limited to the draw down on the water level when being
pumped. The 1,500 GPM was the minimum GPM the Company hoped to achieve. In
fact, the well was test pumped and was rated to have a maximum of 2,500 GPM. This
will further assist in meeting the DEQ requirements. Currently, Well 9 has a rated
capacity of 3,000 GPM. However, due to sand production from the well, it can currently
only produce 2,700 GPM and not pump sand into the distribution system. The
wellhouse was not designed with room for sand separators. The storage tank project
would allow Well 9 to supply the tank and any sand pumped would settle in the tank.
