Dear Jean
Following is a letter in response to a telephone conversation I had with CeCe Gassner in
early August.
Enclosed are copies of statements for the months 3 years prior to the discovery of the
unknown" phone line and statements in 2001 when the phone line was established. Only
the first six months of statements in '03, '04, and '05 are included because the last six months
are the same. Only the February statement itemizes three phone lines in '03 and '04 until
June '04 when the billing format was changed and thereafter each statement shows three
phone lines.
I am sending the statements to show:
1) the existence of the 454-7296 is never published and it's existence is unknown to me.
2) paying a flat "monthly service" charge or "2 addl line-pri bus flat" "1 private business line
as itemized in February doesn t tell me that I am being charged for a service I am not
receiving.
3) publishing the 454-7296 number would, to me, have been the only reasonable way to
discover the service I was not using.
In May '01 when the 454-7296 phone line was installed the service I received was that my
internet connection was established over the 459-9438 phone line which satisfied me. If I
had been charged for ~ business lines subsequently I would assume that 5 business lines
made my internet connection possible and therefore the charge was legitimate.
Being charged for "3" (or ") business lines wouldn t tell me that I was being charged for a
dysfunctional phone line whose number was impossible to know until I spoke with Qwest in
October of '05 as I reported.
Also, I would respectfully object to a statute that would prevent me from recovering costs
beyond three years.
