Repair REPAIR SERVICE CHECKLIST If you have a problem with your telephone service it can be one of three things, To help you det-ermine the source of the problem, here aresome tips that may save time and help you avoid a possible service charge, Outside Line Problem No dial tone on all phones Can t call in or out on all phones Get cut off when talking on all phones Noise or static on all phones Inside Wire Problem A phone works in one jack but not in another loose or broken phone jack Telephone Problem Worn cords Stuck push buttons Broken cord clips Stuck receiver buttons SERVICE PROBLEMS When you have a service problem, we ll do ourbest to locate and clear up the trouble.Depending on the source of the problem, thefollowing guidelines will apply, Outside line: Frontier maintains your lines as a part of your basic monthly rate, Inside Wire: Unless you request our Inside Wire Maintenance Plan you are responsible for repair and maintenance. You may hire a vendor or handle the repair yourself. For a small monthly fee, Frontier will maintain inside wiring and jacks that meet industry standard and perform theserepairs as necessary, For more information contact our Customer Sevice and Sales Center. Telephone: If you lease from Frontier, repair isincluded in your monthly fee at no extra charge. If you own your telephorles, you are responsil5lefor repair and should follow the warranty instructions, Due to changes in the telephone industry, it has become necessary to initiate certain premises visit and time/ material charges when trouble is found to be in the customer s premises wiring or apparatus. In order to helpalleviate some of these charges, we have installed a device to help you isolate the trouble on your telephoneline before you call us, This device is called a telephone NETWORK INTERFACE DEVICE (NID)which is located outside your house and is the point of separation between your house and Frontier, .NOTE: All customers may not beequipped with an NID. Should loU have trouble with your telephone service, the first thing wewould like you to do is make sure the trouble is not in your telephone instrument (apparatus) itself. STEP 1 Unplug your telephone inside your house, STEP 2 Plug your telephone in at a friend's house. If it checks out OK it is time to check the inside wire, (See STEP 5, Network Interface Device. If a friend's house is not convenient and there is more than one telephone, unplug alltelephones and plug them back one at a time, listen for dial tone, If no dial tone, unplug and plug a different set in a different outlet, If still no dial tone, check your wiring as stated below, (See STEP 5, Network Interface Device. At your Network Interface Device (located outside your house), take a standard blade screwdriver and open the lid, In the upper left-hand corner you will see a modular plug, Byunplugging this cord, you are disconnecting the wire going inside your house, Plug your known good telephone into this jack, If your telephone works properly here, but notin your house, the problem is in your inside wire, NOTE: If you have two lines at your premise, a Network Interface Device with two testjacks wilf be provided, The first is wired to the red/green (1) terminals, the second lineIS wired to the yellow/black (2) terminals, Call Frontier Repair Service and report trouble with your inside wiring, thus speeding the correctionof your problem: TOll-FREE Dial ............ :,............,.........,............,.,.,.,....,.".".,..,.,."....,.,.,.,..,..,..,.,......,.,., 800-921-8104 ~I~~I~ PLEASE NOTE: If you call for the telephone repairman to correct problems in your wiring or apparatus there may be a service charge unless your service is covered by an inside wire maintenance agreement, ' Residential Service 1-800-921-8101- Business Service 1-800-921-8102 McCall, '10 ~"' '-YOU\'.
