RE: Abandonment of the Camas Prairie RailNet’s Spalding to Grangeville Line
Dear Greg,
Pursuant to our telephone conversation this morning, I have enclosed for your information the draft Environmental and Historical Report (EHR) that was prepared by Camas Prairie in February 2000. You will note on page 5 of the draft EHR that the Railroad has “consulted” with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service but not the National Marine Fisheries Service.
I have also included for your information comments that DEQ submitted to the Railroad. In particular, the top item on page 2 discusses the Department’s concern about railbed materials eroding into waters of the state.
If you have any questions, you can contact me at (208) 334-0312 or reach me by E-mail at dhowell@puc.state.id.us. If you receive any inquiries from the Railroad or its attorney John Heffner, please let me know.
Sincerely yours,
Donald L. Howell, II
Deputy Attorney General
