RE:CENTURY TEL OF IDAHO ("CENTURY TEL") TARIFF ADVICE 2004-
06 FILING TO PROVIDE EXTENDED AREA SERVICE (EAS)
BETWEEN THE CUSTOMERS OF NORTHFORK AND SALMON TO
THE RURAL TELEPHONE COMPANY EXCHANGE OF SHOUP.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
On December 1 , 2004, CenturyTel of Idaho, Inc. ("CenturyTel") filed a revision to its
Tariff. The Company requests Commission approval to update its tariff to reflect Extended Area
Service (EAS) between the CenturyTel exchanges of North fork and Salmon and the Rural
Telephone Company exchange of Shoup. The Company seeks an effective date of January 15
2005.
On November 12 , 2004, the Commission issued Order Number 29631 in Case Number
GNR - T -01- 3 wherein it approved EAS calling for the Shoup customers into CenturyT el' s
Northfork and Salmon exchanges. In its Order the Commission stated that it
, "
further finds the
proposed $.09 rate increase for Century Tel customers in Salmon and NorthFork to $21.84 for
residential service and $39.86 for business service is reasonable." However, Staff found no rate
increases submitted with this filing and understands that CenturyTel will be providing this
service without a rate increase to its customers.

ST AFF RECOMMENDATION and COMMISSION DECISION
In its Order Number 29631 the Commission found that there was a "strong community-
of-interest demonstrated by Shoup, NorthFork and Salmon" and because CenturyTel is not
seeking any rate changes, Staff recommends approval. Does the Commission agree?
