Referring to the direct testimony of Staff witness Morrison, page 4, lines 14-21, is Mr. Gorman aware of any natural gas distribution utility that performs load studies for class cost of service studies? If yes, please provide a list of these utilities. NWIGU'S RESPONSES TO IGC SECOND PRODUCTION REQUEST Page 1 26678.885\4825-2046-l 376. v I RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 11: Mr. Gorman has not compiled a list of other utilities, but he does understand that gas utilities develop statistics on load characteristics of its system and customers using load studies. These studies are used to identify peak period demands, operating constraints and loading characteristics throughout the delivery system. These same studies are generally then used to help describe customers' contribution to these delivery capacity requirements and to identify operating constraints. REQUEST NO. 12. Referring to the direct testimony of Staff witness Morrison, page 5, lines 22-23, is Mr. Gorman aware of other natural gas distribution utilities that determine CP allocators using data for multiple peak days? If yes, please provide a list of these utilities? RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 12. Mr. Gorman has not compiled a specific list of utilities, but he does understand that using multiple peak days is often a means of creating a normalized contribution to design day peaks for use in ensuring a more accurate measmement of a design day demand allocator across rate classes. Because design day, or peak, demands can vary throughout the peak season, and class contributions to the design day demand can vary within any given year, or day, using multiple days to measure a class coincident peak demand allocator can help produce a normalized design day or peak day demand allocator.
