Provide any and all documents showing requirements or criteria for grantees of Avista’s charitable foundation as stated in Appendix 8 to the Application. RESPONSE:
The Avista Foundation was formed by Avista Corporation exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes, within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The intent of the Avista Foundation is to conduct charitable, educational and scientific activities for the benefit of the public.
The Avista Foundation focuses its giving on grants that strengthen communities and enhance the quality of the lives of the people served by our company.
Emphasis is on the areas of:
Education — supporting K-12 education, particularly in the fields of science, math and technology, as well as higher education, including scholarships.
Vulnerable and limited income populations — providing assistance to those on limited incomes and support for initiatives to reduce poverty.
Economic and cultural vitality — supporting projects that help our communities and citizens to grow and prosper. Avista corporate donations focus primarily on energy assistance and economic vitality related initiatives that benefit our customers and communities.For additional information regarding Avista’s corporate philanthropy, please see the Community Partnership section starting on page 62 of LIUNA_DR_1-33(AVA) Attachment A.
