Environmental Policy
Hydro One, as Ontario’s largest transmission and distribution
company with operations across the province, is committed to
protecting the environment for current and future generations.
At Hydro One, we will deliver electricity to our customers and manage our operations in an
environmentally-responsible manner. We will comply with all applicable environmental
legislation and Hydro One’s voluntary commitments. We will design, build and operate our
facilities to make efficient use of resources and to prevent pollution. We will manage any
adverse environmental impacts that may result from our activities. We will strive for continual
improvement of our environmental management system and performance.

Our Commitment
We will ensure employees understand their roles and responsibilities as outlined in the
Hydro One environmental management system and have the skills, knowledge and resources
necessary to perform these duties. We will hold our contractors to the same high standards.
We will identify, assess and manage significant environmental risks and integrate
environmental considerations into our decisions.
We will report environmental incidents and take immediate action to mitigate environmental
impacts.
We will improve our performance by setting environmental objectives and targets, monitoring
our performance and initiating corrective and preventive actions when required.
We will work cooperatively with governments, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to
develop programs that contribute to improving our environmental performance.
We will investigate and, where prudent, use new environmental technologies that will help us
achieve our business objectives.
We will report our environmental performance and celebrate our achievements.
