4 COMMISSIONER KJELLANDER: Well, good

5 evening. This is the time and place for a public hearing

6 in Case No. AVU-E-42-08 and AVU-G-12-07. It's a public
7 hearing scheduled to take testimony for those members of

8 the public in reference to Avista natural gas and Avista

9 electricity's rate increase request that was filed in

10 October. There have since been some settlement

11 conferences in January, and tonight we're here to take
12 comments from members of the public.

13 My name is Paul Kjellander. I am the

14 Chairman of this evening's proceedings. To my right is
15 Commissioner Mack Redford, and to my left is Commissioner
16 Marsha Smith. Since we presently do not have anyone here

17 to testify, we will go off the record for approximately

18 10 minutes. We'll see if anyone shows up. If no one
19 does during that time frame, then we will close the
20 hearing and reconvene tomorrow in Coeur d'Alene for round

21 two of the public hearings, so with that, then, we'll go

22 off the record for approximately 10 minutes.
