IPUC Data Request 19
For Data request #10 please provide information pertaining to the remainder of
items with estimated in-service date of September l-December 31,2013 as
included in your hle IPUC 8-1. Including, but not limited to:
a. Cholla computer room, gantry crane, coal mill overhauls, plant paving,
etc.
b. Colstrip COLU5 generator reliability, capital project support
c. Craig limestone handling modifications
d. Hunter project for motors, gearbox, elect.
e. DJ mill blanket, pumps and valves, coal yard, security bldg,
communication equipmentf. Naughton regarding road repaving, fire pump, blanket asbestos
reinsulationg. Wind Plant WGen, W-l799 repair gearboxes, turbine blades. generators
Additional conversations with IPUC relating to this request yielded the following
change in the scope ofthe request:
Please send the detail already collected for all projects. For items not yet
collected, feel free to reduce it to the following:
1. W-1799 Replace/Repair wind gearboxes, turbine blades, generators
2. Cottonwood Prep Plant Sampling system
3. Chehalis Balancing Authority Change
4. Cholla Active Carbon Injection
5. Huntington Main GSU Transformer
Response to IPUC Data Request 19
Please refer to Attachment IPUC l9-1, which is a summary of the updated in-
service amounts and dates for the capital additions previously submitted in the
response to IPUC 8. Included in the summary arc additional projects that were
not anticipated for the test period at the time the filing was prepared, but are now
included in the Company's forecast.
Pertaining to the 5 specific projects listed in the revised request, the Company
responds as follows:
W-1799 Replace/Repair wind gearboxes, turbine blades, generators - This project
represents an aggregate amount projected to be incurred this year based on prior
experience. These capital costs are included as a placeholder in the plan and
timing specifics are addressed when the equipment failures occur. In 2013, this
project funding was more than fully utilized on various gearbox, blade, and
generator projects at the Glenrock, Goodnoe Hills, Leaning Juniper, and Seven

Mile Hill wind sites. Project approval documentation for several of these are
included in Attachment IPUC l9-2.
For the remaining four projects, in-service dates are based on project manager
estimates taking into account several factors, including scheduled maintenance of
major plant components, contractor availability, critical nature of the project
component or system, contract schedules, and timing of regulatory compliance
requirements.
Cottonwood Prep Plant Sampling system - Please refbr to Attachment IPUC 19-2
for proj ect approval documentation.
Chehalis Balancing Authority Change - Please refer to Attachment IPUC 19-2 for
project approval documentation.
Cholla Active Carbon Injection - As indicated in Attachment IPUC l9-1, this
project has been postponed until 2015.
Huntington Main GSU Transformer - Please refer to Attachment IPUC l9-2 for
project approval documentation. Subsequent to preparation ofthe project
approval documentation, this project was pushed out to a2013 completion date.
