Class 1 DSM programs are those for which capacity savings occur as a result of active Company control or advanced scheduling. Once customers agree to participate in a Class 1 DSM program, the timing and persistence of the load reduction is involuntary on their part within the agreed limits and parameters of the program. In most cases, loads are shifted rather than avoided. Below is a summary of the 3 existing Class 1 DSM programs: (1) Idaho Irrigation, (2) Utah Irrigation, and (3) Utah Coolkeeper.
