COMES NOW, ldaho Power Company ("ldaho Power" or "Company") and
supplements its response to the Second Production Request of the Commission Staff to
Idaho Power Company dated April 1 1,2019, as follows:
IDAHO POWER COMPANY'S SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO THE
SECOND PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF - 1
REQUEST NO. 8: Please provide copies of e-mails, meeting notes, and/or
records of discussion between the Company and NV Energy related to the decision
whether or not to move forward with capital investments for Unit 1, Unit 2, or common
plant considering proposed closure dates and earlier alternative closure dates for Unit 1.
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 8: Meetings, phone
conferences, and e-mails between ldaho Power and NV Energy (collectively, the
"Parties") to discuss capital projects, justification for these projects, and forecasts occur
frequently. The meetings are necessary to help ensure the North Valmy power plant
("Valmy") will be able to support summer operations in a safe, reliable, and compliant
manner. Provided on the enclosed non-confidential CD are the meeting invites;
documents; notes and workpapers, where applicable; and e-mails regarding
discussions between the Parties on capital project forecasts and justifications for the
capital projects at Valmy. These documents also include any analyses performed by
the Parties in evaluating capital projects.
The planning period for Valmy is set based on the Parties' expected cessation of
operations dates, which has changed over time. Most recently, in early 2018, ldaho
Power set the end of the planning period for Unit 1 capital projects at December 31,
2019. All discussions associated with planning periods were verbal and notes were not
always taken during these conversations.
