(June 2016 to present.) Please explain the calculations and provide source documents for those amounts. RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 1: As ldaho Power Company ("ldaho Powe/' or "Company'') discussed with ldaho Public Utilities Commission ("Gommission") Staff ("Staff'), while ldaho Power does not specifically track these amounts, the collection can be estimated by multiplying the Fixed Cost Adjustment (.FCA') rate in effect by the kilowaft-hour ("kWh") sales over the same time period. The response to this Request is sponsored by Zach Hanis, Regulatory Analyst, ldaho Power Company. IDAHO POWER COMPANY'S RESPONSE TO THE FIRST PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF.2 REQUEST NO. 2:Please provide the backup documentation for the average number of customers used in the FCA calculations. Please explain the methods of calculating those amounts. RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 2: Please see Attachments 1 and 2, As discussed with Staff, the Company modified the calculation of its prorated customer count in 2013. The prorated customer count represents the number of customerc that received a bill each month and is determined by applying a ratio to the number of utility service agreements active at the end of each month. Prior to 2013, the monthly number of customers had been determined by dividing the total revenue received attributable to the monthly service charge by $5, which has been the monthly service charge for both the Residential and Small Genera! Service customer classes. This method of quantifying customer count reflects a fractional value for customers that were only active for part of the month. ln September 2013, the Company implemented a new Customer Relationship and Billing ('CR&B") system, which required that the calculation of the prorated customer counts be modified. Because the new CR&B system tracks and records revenue in a different manner than the prior billing system, it was necessary to modify the determination of prorated customer counts to ensure the ongoing accuracy of the FCA computations. Starting in August 2013, ldaho Power began using a prorated customer count based on the active number of utility service agreements at the end of each month. This approach applies the same methodology that was used to determine customer counts in the Company's most recent general rate case, Case No. IPC-E-I1- 08. The response to this Request is sponsored by Zach Hanis, Regulatory Analyst, ldaho Power. IDAHO POWER COMPANY'S RESPONSE TO THE FIRST PRODUCTION REQUEST OF THE COMMISSION STAFF - 3 REQUEST NO. 3: Please provide the backup documentation for the kWh sold used in the FCA calculations. Please explain the methods of calculating those numbers. RESPONSE TO REQUEST NO. 3: Please see Attachment 2 provided in the Company's response to Staffs Request No. 2. As discussed with Staff, the kWh sold is exported from the Company's billing system. The response to this Request is sponsored by Zach Hanis, Regulatory Analyst, ldaho Power Company.
