Comment: "We are very disappointed with the realities of the change in the rate Rocky
Mountain Power must pay on site solar generating customers. Over the course of a year,
our solar system produces more energy than we use. Yet, last month, due to changes in the
rate structure, we owed a bill of$134. Rocky Mountain "purchased" our excess power
produced during the day at about 2 1/2 cents kWh but then required that we purchase
power at night at a cost of almost 12 cents kWh. We agree that solar customers should
have to cover a fair share of the costs of maintenance of the power lines just for being part
of the grid (as should all customers) but this is not a fair and reasonable solution to that
problem. We did not purchase batteries initially, because the exchange rate made it
possible not to. However, we are trying to cut back our use of electricity during the hours of
darkness and we also plan to to install batteries that can meet the majority of our night
time needs. If I could figure out a way to do it, I would go off grid completely or at least
refuse to sell any excess power we produce to Rocky Mountain Power. We feel like the
change that was approved only looked at the power company's needs without taking into
account the benefits provided by residential on-site generation.Thank you just for letting
