NEWS RELEASE: Natural Gas Utility Files Application Seeking Rate Changes
BOISE (Aug. 27, 2026) — The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is accepting written comments through Sept.
15, 2026, on an application submitted by Intermountain Gas seeking to change the rates it charges customers for
natural gas service.
The utility's rates include two components. The base rate component is designed to recover the utility's fixed
costs of serving customers and generally remains unchanged. The purchased gas cost adjustment (PGA) is a
Commission-approved mechanism that adjusts rates up or down to reflect changes in the utility's costs of
purchasing natural gas from suppliers, including changes in transportation, storage and other related costs.
Intermountain Gas defers these costs to its PGA account and passes them on to customers through corresponding
increases or decreases in rates.
If the utility's application is approved by the Commission as filed, a typical residential customer will see a
monthly decrease of$1.46, or 3.25 percent. On average, commercial customers will see a monthly decrease of
$8.22, or 4.25 percent. Large volume customers, on average, will see a monthly decrease of$1,549.99, or 11.32
percent.
The Commission is accepting written comments on the utility's application through Sept. 15, 2026. Comments
are required to be filed through the Commission's website or by email unless computer access is unavailable. To
submit comments online, visit puc.idaho.gov and click on the "Case Comment Form" link on the upper left side
