The comment states that Mr. Hoffman is billed over$90 per month for internet service alone, and contrasts this with advertised rates of$35 and $55 per month, suggesting he is paying roughly three times the advertised rate for comparable service. Mr. Hoffman previously subscribed to both telephone and internet service. He removed telephone service from his account in an effort to reduce his monthly bill and is currently a standalone internet subscriber. Because Mr. Hoffman's residence is served by Ziply Fiber's legacy copper (DSL) network rather than its fiber network, his current charges are as follows: • Copper DSL internet service: $90.00 per month • Router (equipment) fee: $15.00 per month • Paperless billing discount: -$10.00 per month The $35 and $55 per month rates referenced in the comment are advertised rates for Ziply Fiber's fiber-optic internet service. Fiber service is not currently available at Mr. Hoffman's address; his location can only be served over the Company's copper network. Copper/DSL infrastructure involves different maintenance requirements and cost considerations than fiber infrastructure, and pricing for copper-based service reflects those operational differences. As a result, a direct comparison between fiber-advertised rates and copper DSL rates does not reflect service of the ziplyfiber.com same type or cost basis. On July 16, 2026, a Ziply Fiber representative reviewed the account billing in detail with Mr. Hoffman by telephone and advised that monthly costs could be reduced by (1) enrolling in autopay using a debit card, which qualifies the account for an additional $10 per month discount and helps avoid the $15 late fee that applies when a payment is missed; and (2) purchasing his own router/modem equipment, which would eliminate the $15 monthly router fee. Ziply Fiber confirms that there is currently no lower-cost copper DSL internet plan available for his location. The comment also describes an instance in which Mr. Hoffman's internet service was out and he was told a technician would not be available for approximately ten days. Ziply Fiber understands Mr. Hoffman's concern that an internet outage may affect his ability to communicate from his residence, particularly where he reports limited or no cellular coverage. The Company takes such concerns seriously. Ziply Fiber's records reflect the following documented history of service interruptions on this account in 2026: April 2026 outage: Mr. Hoffman's service was out for three days as a result of a cable cut caused by a third-party power company crew working in the area. Ziply Fiber issued time-out-of-service bill credits to Mr. Hoffman's account for the duration of that outage. May 2026 intermittent service issue: On May 20, 2026, Mr. Hoffman reported frequent internet disconnections and a trouble ticket was opened. The scheduling system generated an initial appointment date of May 28, 2026—eight days from the date of the report, not ten as characterized in the comment. At Mr. Hoffman's request, and to accommodate an upcoming holiday weekend, the appointment was moved earlier to May 26, 2026. However, on May 21, 2026, Mr. Hoffman advised Ziply Fiber that his internet service had already been restored, and on May 25, 2026, Ziply Fiber confirmed the service was functioning properly and closed the trouble ticket. Accordingly, Ziply Fiber's records reflect that the service issue was resolved before the scheduled appointment date. Ziply Fiber appreciates the opportunity to respond to this comment and remains committed to working directly with Mr. Hoffman regarding available billing options and service concerns at his location.
