BOISE (April 30, 2026)—PacifiCorp has filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission seeking approval to sell its service area and assets in Washington state. The Washington service area includes approximately 137,000 customers in Yakima,Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Benton counties. PacifiCorp is a multi-state electric utility that does business in eastern Idaho as Rocky Mountain Power and does business in Washington state as Pacific Power. The utility is proposing to sell its service area and assets to Gem Sub LLC for a base purchase price of$1.9 billion. The assets include the Chehalis thermal plant, Marengo wind facility, Goodnoe Hills wind facility and the distribution infrastructure required to provide electricity to customers. PacifiCorp also is requesting an accounting order if the sale is approved by the Commission as filed. The accounting order would allow the utility to record an $8.9 million balance that would be credited to customers over a three-year period in the utility's next general rate case. The credit would partially offset requested increases at the time of the rate case. PacifiCorp said the proposed sale is intended to simplify operations across the utility's multi- state service area and ensure it has enough resources to serve approximately 2 million customers in the West and Intermountain West.
