Today is April 2nd 2026 and I just received a notice in the mail from Avista that they are planning on raising our rates another 7.4%. Theyjust raised our rates and in the current economic climate we cannot afford anymore and it should not be our job or responsibility to pay for Energy Efficiency rebates or any of the Energy Efficiency programs. If Avista want to have these programs they need to take that money out of their profits not continue to squeeze more and more and more out of the public. We don't have anymore. And I require Public Utilities Commission to deny this increase. In 2025 Avista net income was $193 Million. So if they want to find these energy efficient programs they need to take it out of their profits not out of the consumer because they consumer is a dry hole. If this is approved I'll be filing a complaint with all of the state Congress persons and the governor to enact new laws and restraints against all utility increases when there is a massive net income which would take all requested rate increases out of puc's hands and tie it to statue and net income of the utility to keep them from taking advantage of us which is actually the puc's job! Please deny this rate increase! A copy of this e-mail will be sent to the governor's office ,all state representatives, and senators. I have updated equipment in my home. I also don't have any more money to spend on newer, more energy- 1 saving equipment. I don't have the money to pay for a 7.7% increase! This is too much to ask anyone! Please consider stopping the increase! This is way too much! Also, there are no alternatives in our area, so I can't switch to a different provider. They hold the monopoly, and I feel this is an injustice and an overuse of power."
