In 2025, we witnessed Avista send crews of over a dozen utility workers to Locate and mark the same underground power lines over and over while in a spat with a high speed broadband installing contractor. This was along only one quarter-mile long section of our road, each Avista technician costing—$80/hour (labor rate plus benefits)just to carry a spray paint can. The broadband company had already contacted Avista via the safe digging network to mark the lines. Overall Avista was onsite three times at$80/ hour times 10 employees for three full days -that adds up to a big expenditure for nothing. Ironically, the broadband contractor abandoned the project without doing any digging! I do not want to pay to subsidize programs for specialty products. I believe that giving out rebates for limited types of products allows/encourages the manufacturer to inflate the price of said product to the general public, knowing it will be subsidized by such programs. Our Avista rates, gas and electric, have already been raised in each of the past three years. Our fixed income, Social Security COLA increases 1 have averaged between 2 and 3 percent during that time, putting us well behind their increase percentages. Is our our already modest standard of living just supposed to continue to erode continuously? Make Avista pare back some of it's overly generous employee salary and benefits packages to cover their increased costs- not fixed income seniors. As a corporation they must be accountable for their choices 6p6p" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2
